Papaya has been used since ancient times as an anthelmintic for humans and animals, especially in tropical countries. Recently, it has become increasingly popular in naturopathy. Due to its many positive properties, it is also recommended for strengthening the intestines and for inflammation.
Papain is extracted from the seeds and juice of the papaya by cutting open the skin of the unripe fruit.
Scientists identified the papain enzyme extracted from papaya as early as the end of the 20th century. It is a so-called proteolytic enzyme that has a protein-degrading effect. Thanks to its protein-degrading effect, papain offers natural protection against intestinal parasites such as worms, Giardia parasites and intestinal parasites such as whipworms, which are essentially protein-based and are destroyed by papain.
Papain also helps with the digestion of proteins, optimizes intestinal health, strengthens the immune system and is rich in vitamins A, B5, C and E, beta-carotene, magnesium, potassium and fibre. It is therefore also suitable for overweight pets, pets with metabolic disorders and pets with digestive problems!
